Sometime early in 1983, back when punk was an attitude and not a movement, two young musicians (then going by the nicknames "bumper" and "patch") were skating on the concrete pad underneath an overpass in what was then northeast Fort Collins, when a friend came by and brought a portable stereo with a bad copy of a bad copy of a cassette of some band called "the Sex Pistols". Upon hearing the low-grade noise they knew that their post-70s love of ELO and the Beach Boys had been supplanted by a new love.
