Composer and statistician M.A. Matthews III created Woodape in 1997. The band hatched out of a melodious triumvirate of musical genetic material: the television sitcom Sanford and Son, Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music, and childhood nightmares resulting from the underworld sequences in the Legend of Zelda. Woodape currently plays shows for the elderly on bingo night in Cape May County, New Jersey, but is planning a 2010 World Tour, kicking off in some guy's basement in Delaware.
