Led by the fanciful charm of Tim Karmouche (Hollow Everdaze), Crepes bring about breezy pop ditties through infectious, guitar-laden arrangements.
Debut single, ‘Ain’t Horrible’ recalls the effortless guitar-pop prowess of the Go-Betweens, whilst the languid allure of Dick Diver also shines through. It seems only appropriate that Melbourne’s own ‘dole- wave’ deity in Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring) was recruited for master- ing duties.
Though humble in its delivery, the single boasts a potent, pop-fuelled finesse beyond its lax guitar/drum interplay. ‘Ain’t Horrible’ revolves around a frustratingly catchy chorus that sees this tune live up to its namesake, and then some.
