Na české hudební scéně se objevil až koncem 70. let a jeho popularita velmi rychle stoupala. Rodné jméno má Václav, jako Dalibor začal vystupovat v roce 1980. Dalibor je jeho křtěné jméno v kostele.[1] Jeho první hit Jahodový kokteil vyšel v roce 1983. Na výsluní vydržel až do konce 80. let. Ocenění * 1986 získal ocenění Zlatého slavíka
