Adam Dunning
Adam Dunning is a Bossa Nova artist who splits his career between Rio de Janeiro and his hometown, Melbourne, Australia. His work has been deemed "Summer jazz", a strong presence of Brazilian Bossa Nova blended with a summer jazz feel, and his songs often denote a sense of home, the environment, animal welfare, and summer. His first album Sunset Monkeys was released in November 2010, and has especially been successful in Japan along with Western Europe.
Adam has played, written, and recorded with some of the great pioneers of Bossa Nova, including Roberto Menescal, Joao Donato, and Lysias Enio. He recorded the first-ever English version of "Voce e Eu" written by Carlos Lyra, as well as writing English versions to Menescal's "Nos e o Mar" / We and the Sea, and Donato's "Flor do Mato" / Jungle Flower and the classic "Amazonas". He also wrote the first ever French version of the Gershwin classic "'S Wonderful" with co-writer Manuel Guignard in Paris.
His title track "Sunset Monkeys" included the voice of world renowned environmentalist David Suzuki. His songs "Leblon" and "Mount Eliza" both refer to his respective Brazilian and Australian homes.
His close collaboration with co-writer and musician Ronaldo Cotrim has meant a strong link between Brazilian and European summer-style compositions. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
