The improvizational multimedia phenomenon BOW+ARROW was formed in late 2005 by C-STAR and MIKE MEANSTREETZ, in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California. The core members currently consist of MIKE MEANSTREETZ, C-STAR(CTYF),and LAZER BLADE. Their sound has been described as "free, noise, progressive, jazz, grindcore, punk, surf, metal, math-rock, no-wave" despite its idiosyncratic micropolyrythmic/phonic improvised structure and the bands unwillingness to site "genres" and "musical influences". BOW+ARROW usually performs using processed feedback, electric and acoustic stringed instruments, drums and voice, although they also employ found sound, homemade instruments and deem no sound unusable. BOW+ARROW produce their own recordings and also create visual works, video, costumes, sets and props to use as interactive installations during performance.MIKE MEANSTREETZ, C-STAR(CTYF), LAZER BLADE, and MIKEY Z also appeared on and created OBSCURITIES 1,2 and 3. MIKE MEANSTREETZ, C-STAR(CTYF), and LAZER BLADE also record and play solo and collaborative music which appears on the CTYForganization label, BrokenBirdProductions, StaticKittenRecords and under the DIYBIGWORLDS name. MIKE MEANSTREETZ was also a member of the band PINATA LAZER. C-STAR(CTYF), MIKEY Z, and LAZER BLADE were also in the band RAIZE ISSUES.
