Jack O’ Fire were a blues-rock combo from Austin, Texas assembled by guitarist and bandleader Tim Kerr, a veteran of several eclectic punk bands including Big Boys, Poison 13 and The Monkeywrench, which also featured members of Mudhoney. Largely active between 1992 and 1995, Jack O' Fire also featured vocalist/mouth harpist Walter Daniels (formerly of Blood Sucking Go-Devils), bassist Dean Gunderson (formerly of Seattle band, Cat Butt) and drummer Josh LaRue (who had played in a number of bands including Rain Like the Sound of Trains, Sevens and The Sorts).

Jack O’ Fire were committed to "the fine art of covering their favorite artists, enhancing raw originals with their own arsenal of harsh and infectious blues, played with an abandoned release of frantic activity, like they were performing some kind of obscure voodoo ritual or black magic from the Louisiana swamps." Tapping the spirit of the original masters of blues (Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Hound Dog Taylor, Sonny Boy Williamson), rock'n'roll (Chuck Berry, Link Wray), R&B and Soul (Blind Willie McTell, Booker T & the MGs), Jack O' Fire "shouted their prayers wrapped in fire with honesty, sincerity, and fully believing in what they were doing."

Under the leadership of Kerr, the band were not afraid to deviate from these genres lending their unique treatment to the likes of Joy Division, Negative Approach, Frank Zappa, Wire, The Fall, Billy Childish, Small Faces, and The Sonics, managing to amaze and confound audiences in the process.

Jack O' Fire's first release was the Bring Me The Head of Jon Spencer 7" (Undone, 1992), which was followed by a steady stream of vinyl releases, including two 10" mini-albums, 6 Super Shock Soul Songs (Estrus, 1993) and Hot Rod Songs For The Soul Riot (00 Records, 1993). Much of this vinyl output, released mostly in small editions and now highly collectable, has been re-released on a series of CD compilations, including The Destruction Of Squaresville (Estrus, 1994), Beware of the Souless Cool (1+2 Records, 1996) and Forever: The Final Chapter (Sympathy for the Record Industry, 1996).

After Jack O' Fire, Tim Kerr went on to perform with bands such as Lord High Fixers, King Sound Quartet and The Now Time Delegation. Kerr currently performs with the GroovySoulGarageBeatPunk combo Total Sound Group Direct Action Committee. Walter Daniels went on to perform in a number of bands including Big Foot Chester and South Filthy, Josh LaRue became a member of Sea Tiger and featured on the 2008 album by Doug Scharin's HiM, while Dean Gunderson moved to Los Angeles where he works as a camera assistant/operator.
