The Rancid Yak Butter Tea Party
The torch bearers of Ohio weirdo metal genre-blitzing in the early part of this decade, RYBTP began as a trio in 1999 in Columbus, Ohio. Based on demos by Tyler Derryberry (Ho-Ag) and Justin Modica, the band was from the beginning grounded in abrupt tempo changes, mathy and programmatic writing, jarring halts and Elfmanesque and Latin melodies (particularly easy to spot in the early compositions "Melody" and "Tarantula").
