The Do-Nuts were formed in 2003 by high school students and models MC Akino and MC Eriko after the two passed the Okinawa Idol Discovery Project. Their name is from the Japanese word for summer ("natsu", which sounds similar to the English word "nuts" when said) and the English word for "Do" (as in to take action). Their first single was a mail-order limited release came out in August of the following year. Their national debut single, Nagisa no GO GO GIRL was used in a number of commercials.
