Field Musicians is a category sometimes used for music performed by unspecified or unknown persons, usually in the context of ethnomusicological field recordings of traditional folk music from around the world. Usually the musicians recorded are non-professional and play in ceremonial, religious or other cultural contexts outside the music industry.
