Adoniran Barbosa (August 6, 1910 — November 23, 1982) was a brazilian artist: composer, singer, humorist and actor. His real name was João Rubinato and he was born in Valinhos, São Paulo. Both his parents are from Italy, from Cavarzere, Venice. He took his artistic name from character invented in his own radio show. He is probably the only samba musician from São Paulo appreciated by musicians from Rio de Janeiro, where the heart of samba is.
