Since sliding out of the birth canal in April 2008 Sydney band Wifey have won the Sydney University band competition and the NSW state campus competition. They have supported talents like Smudge, Youth Group, 78Saab, Howe Gelb (Giant Sand), Hugo Race (Ex Bad Seeds), Ned Collette, The City Lights and Dead Letter Chorus. "at times they sounded like a cross between Okkervil River and Dexys Midnight Runners with their melodic sensibilities." (doubtful sounds)
