Funkadesi play a vibrant style of music, which is as diverse as the musical and cultural backgrounds of its ten members. Hailing from Africa, Jamaica, America, Europe and India they formed in Chicago with the idea of improvising Indian melodic and rythmic themes over reggae/funk grooves. The end result is a distinctive blend of sound which is still growing and evolving. The band won two Chicago Music Awards for their contribution to world music quickly after forming, and released a self-titled EP.
