The New Midwest centers its musical compass on vocal harmony, rock and roll guitar riffs, and rootsy rhythm. Finding inspiration from the eclectic pool of old country, dusty soul, modern rock, and singer/songwriter folk, the band celebrates Americana with its music. Chris Smit (vocals & harmonica) and Michael VanHouten (drums & vocals) have been playing together for over ten years, and the guitarists Jason Hammond and Ben VanArragon have brought the band into new and splendid places throughout the last year.
