Holly Rubenstein
Holly Rubenstein has recently been dubbed by industry execs as 2009's answer to Carole King. Described by the influential state-side radio plugger Paul Brown as 'even more soulful than Adele or Duffy' she has recently enjoyed several months collaborating with Grammy-winning producer 'Kipper' on her 4 latest tracks. Holly is now looking forward to performing her new material with her band across London's most exciting music venues this Autumn. Her most recently uploaded track - "My Generation" has received a tremendous response, and was the result of her very fruitful relationship with the amazing 'Kipper'.
Holly has been rehearsing with her new band throughout the summer - Ben Barritt on Guitar, Nick Walsh on Bass, George Moore on Keys, and Paul Gregory on Drums and is really looking forward to gigging with them over the next few months. First stop will be 'the Bedford' in Balham on October 21st so please come down to support them if you can. Others will be at the Regal Rooms, the Troubadour, Ruby Sings at Ronnie Scotts, Embassy in Mayfair. Click the 'Gigs' tab for details.
Her most recent songwritng collaboration has been with Jonny Wright - winner of BBC songwriter of the year for 2 straight years and a fantastic talent. His youtube channel 'Whoisjonnywright' is really popular - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paYvTKVTzU8 check out his stuff, it's awesome. The collaboration resulted in a song called 'Change of heart' which Holly loves and hopefully everyone else will too! She'll be adding that to her live set, and will be writing more songs with Jonny in the next few weeks.
Last month, Holly stopped by the new Jack Wills store on the Kings Road to be interviewed and perform a track for their website. It was great fun - the crew were all really cool, and the shop itself is huge and obviously suitably rah for the KR! She'd recommend stopping by - they even have a cafe. She'll post the link to the video interview and performance when it's up on the Jack Wills website.
Finally, for this installment of news, Holly has collaborated with an outstanding photographer called Lucia O'Connor-McCarthy who has produced some images that sum up Holly as an artist. Lucia's work can be seen on http://www.flickr.com/photos/luciaoconnormccarthy . They had great fun on their photoshoot, and hope to continue to work together in the future. Holly will be uploading images from this shoot in the next few weeks - keep your eyes peeled.
