The Gunwale was formed in 2006 as the primary musical project of Stephen Bezan. To this day, Bezan remains as The Gunwale's sole member and musical producer. Primarily, The Gunwale creates ambient music through processing and manipulation of various instruments including electric and acoustic guitars, accordians and keyboards. The result is often lo-fi, spacious, and repetitive recordings influenced by various ambient, electronic, and post-rock artists including Stars of the Lid, Fennesz, Tim Hecker, A Silver Mt. Zion etc.
