Catalyst Cam
He goes by a seemingly endless number of nicknames, but fans of the Inland Empire born and bred MC know him as Catalyst. His witty wordplay and multi-syllable rhyme schemes have drawn comparisons to the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Cassidy. The lyrically inclined 20 year old didn't take his own skill seriously until crossing paths with now best friends Comic and G.Q., who is also his business partner and producer. The three formed T.C.F. (The Chosen Few) in the Summer of 2007. The group never released their debut, as family issues and financial troubles put the group on hold. Catalyst and GQ decided to continue on, and in 2009, Catalyst met a new collabrative partner in Compton born artist and producer Dre Shot. In late 2009, Catalyst began work on a proper debut under Dre Shot's wing. On January 19th, 2010, Catalyst released The Exception Mixtape, a project he hoped would establish him in the Inland Empire's budding Hip-Hop Elite. With little fan fare, Catalyst says he is more than pleased with the reception the project has been given. Songs like "Suede" and "Hawaii" showed he could captivate a mainstream audience while songs like "ThunderCat" and "Danger on the Track" showed the aggressive attack style that has become the self-proclaimed Arrogant Archer's calling card. Now working on a debut album entitled, "Mane/Stream", Catalyst promises more "Reel Rap" that fans can feel and see, as well as starting a multi-branched entertainment group (H.V.E.) with Producer GQ. The future looks bright for the artist that only a few years ago never saw himself as one. Read more on Last.fm.
