ARP44
ARP44 are the journalist Mike Schmitzer (vocals, keyboard) and music producer Achim Kleist (keyboard) out of Munich.
The story behind ARP44 goes back some 28 years. The two childhood friends, Achim Kleist and Mike Schmitzer were the founders in 1982 of the band "The Style" - one that first synthpop bands in South Germany. For 5 years thrilled the 4 member band audience at a number of shows with their own electronic compositions until 1987 when the guys decided to go their separate ways.
Some 20 years later - 2007 - crossed the paths of Achim Kleist and Mike Schmitzer again. Still connected and excited about Synthpop, Schmitzer and Kleist decided in a Munich fastfood restaurant to start a new band: ARP44. The name is a combination of "ARP", which is derived from "Arpeggiator", a musical tone sequence from particular synthesizers and the number of 44 which is the telephone country code for Great Britain. In the 80's, artists from the United Kingdom were the leaders in shaping the synthpop scene, which is the reason the two picked the number 44.
