Dominatrix
Dominatrix is an underground feminist band from São Paulo, Brazil, formed in end of 1995. The band is considered the precursor of the riot grrrl movement in the country. Led by vocalist and guitarist Elisa Gargiulo, the band has a catchy, melodic punk rock with good female choir and lyrics talking mainly about girl self-control and unity. Dominatrix’s initially compositions were in English. Their influences come from bands like Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Smears and Hole.
