Nascido em São Paulo no dia 05 de outubro de 1966, Carlos Nascimento (Tomati), começou na música muito cedo, por volta dos 5 anos de idade como autodidata, tirando músicas de ouvido. Teve suas primeiras aulas de violão aos 10 anos com o professor Luiz Antônio Ruiz. Estudou 4 anos na conceituada escola do Zimbo Trio o CLAM (Centro Livre de Aprendizagem Musical) com os professores Valdo Luir, Conrado e Fernando Correa.
