Crawlpappy is another sad example of a band that got love and respect by everyone who knew them, but who ultimately did not get the widespread recognition that they deserved.

This is particularly difficult to understand when you look at the list of other bands that one-time members of Crawlpappy were involved in at one time or another: Agnostic front, Absolution, Alice Donut, Helmet, Raw Deal. One would think that the fame of those bands would have rubbed off a bit more.

Musically, this evokes Sheer Terror (with whom they had a fantastic split single) and Prong circa “Beg to differ”. Sometimes grooving, sometimes sludgy, hard-rock, post-hardcore –NYHC meets Detroit Rock–… I don’t know, something like that. Good crunching guitars and nice drumming, plus the charismatic gravelly voice of Brian Childers who died much too early in November 2007, apparently of kidney failure. Read more on Last.fm.
