Imagine if Timbaland and Missy Elliott had a kid, but gave it up for adoption to be raised by Madlib and El-P…that child would be J-Direct.
Hailing from completely opposite suburbs of Chicago, Fitzgerald and Griff met through mutual friends who worked at the Metro, a popular Northside venue. Based on a common love for hip-hop, they bonded immediately, and formed J-Direct. After releasing his debut L.P., the soul-searching I Am Haunted By Waters, Fitzgerald, the outspoken front man, sought to make a Chicago anthem record.
