Trupa VUNK s-a lansat in 1999, sub numele de VANK, nume format din initialele membrilor (Victor, Alex, Nicu si Cornel).
Primul concert al trupei a avut loc in octombrie 1994 la Teatrul Ion Creanga alaturi de ZOB. Dupa o pauza destul de lunga, in 1999, cei patru isi lanseaza single-ul INDEPENDENT, ce devinde in scurt timp imnul postului tv Atomic. In luna noiembrie a aceluias an, apare si primul album numit "VOYEUR" ce contine 10 piese. Nu dupa mult timp Vank intra pe toate canalele radio-tv din tara cu piesa "Noi o scoatem la capat" devenita smash -hit.
