Desi Slava is one of the most popular Bulgarian singers in the pop-folk genre. She started out singing Bulgarian folk songs in secondary school, and received her first award from a music competition in high school. Her high-pitched, "angelic" voice has received the critical acclaim of music critics and fans. Desi Slava released her first solo album at the age of 19. She used to be part of the biggest pop-folk label in Bulgaria – Payner music. At the end of 2003 she left the label with her producer Iovko Petrove with whom she started new label New Music Stars.
