Carnival Art

Carnival Art

Carnival Art was formed in Los Angeles, CA the year of 1989. Founding members inlcuded frontman Michael T. Pak (Michael Petak) on vocals and guitar, Ed Dobrydnio on bass until 1991 and switched to guitar (was previously a member of Jane's Addiction but was replaced by Dave Navarro before the 1987 deput of their album "Nothing Shocking"), Keith Fallis on drums, Shane Paul Rhody on Guitar (left the band in 1990).

After Shane Paul Rhody's leave in 1990, Carnival Art hired Brian Bell to play bass and Ed switched to playing the guitar.

At the start of Carnival Art they were signed to Spineless Voodoo Records and released their first album Like Nobody's Business on vinyl. In 1991 Carnival Art released their second album Thrumdrone under the record label Beggars Banquet. The band shot a music video for the single "Mr. Blue Viens". The video for "Mr. Blue Viens" was featured on and episode of Beavis and Butt-Head to mock the bands lack of popularity. 1992 the band released their third and final album Welcome to Vas Llegas along with a music video for their single "Sucker Punch". The band had little record sales and radio air-play which caused them to be dropped by Beggars Banquet. The band tried to revive themselves by changing the band name to Jerkwater but they did not succeed. Carnival Art disbanded in 1993.

Bassist Brian Bell left Carnival Art in 1993 realizing the band was going nowhere and audtioned for the band Weezer as a rhythm guitarist and backround vocals. Brian replaced Weezer's guitarist Jason Cropper during the recording of the Blue Album. Along with joining Weezer, Brian went on to create the bands: Space Twins and most recently The Relationship.

After Carnival Art dissolved frontman Michael T. Pak (using his full name Michael Petak) released a solo album in 1992 entitled: Pretty Little Lonely. He released a video for the album's single "Wrecking Ball". Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
