Bobby Lord

Bobby Lord

Bobby Lord (1934 - 2008), born in Sanford, FL, was a country and rockabilly singer, songwriter, and guitarist and television star.

Bobby's musical career started as a teenager Tampa, FL, when he was asked to host a television show after appearing as a guest on the show for two weeks. His first big break came after winning an amateur talent contest to appear on Paul Whiteman's TV show in New York in the early 1950's. In 1953 he was signed on with Columbia Records after legendary songwriter Boudleaux Bryant passed along a demo tape to the company. He was only 19 and the youngest recording star on the label.

He began releasing country and rockabilly hits on Columbia and enjoyed a television career joining Ozark Jubilee for five years, appearing on Grand Ole Opry while hosting The Bobby Lord Show on WSM-TV in Nashville, for which he is best known. He also recorded for Hickory Records and Decca Records. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
