André DeJuan
André DeJuan (born October 26, 1991) is an American singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, and record producer. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he released his debut studio album, Adventures of a Musical Genius, in May 2009. The album was recorded during his final year of high school, and marked his first studio set. It was a commercial failure, but received acclaim from local critics for its songwriting, production, and artistry. After his first year of college, he released his second studio album, The Edge of Dis-Koveri, in June 2010. The album managed to garner the attention of indie labels and was a moderate success on the internet. It incorporated elements of rock, dance, and alternative music, abandoning the R&B/soul styles present on his previous effort. Following a period of writers block, he returned to the music scene in November 2011 with the release of a new single titled, "I Wanna Fuck" (also known as "Bust a Nut"). The song was met with mixed reviews from critics who complimented its production and direction, but dismissed its lyrical content as "crass" and "inappropriate", while receiving a positive response from fans. Unhappy with the response to the single, he scrapped his entire third LP, Machines, and began working on a new project. He is set to release his first EP, I'm Not Me, in March 2012. The EP was preceded by the release of its lead single, "We Dance", which has since garnered praise from critics and has despite minimal promotion, has been commercially successful. The second single is set to premier during the week of the albums' release. I'm Not Me will serve as his first entry in the field of mainstream pop and EDM, and according to DeJuan, is sonically a sequel to his previous studio album, The Edge of Dis-Koveri. In addition to his success as a solo artist, he has written and produced music for several artists including Tha Kru, Nicole Taylor, Religion, and synthpop band The Crash, of which he is the co-lead singer and main songwriter.
