Avaton (Greek: Άβατον) is a band from Greece with a unique style mixing jazz fusion and greek folk. Their work includes musicalizations of Greek legends and traditional themes, singing in ancient Greek. The band integrates in their work instruments as diverse as didgeridoo and shakuhachi. The band was discovered in 1988 by Manos Hatzidakis, one of the most famous Greek musicians, who signed them and released their first self-titled album through his label, Seirios, in 1991.
