Sports' Society Palmeiras is a Brazilian multisport club based in Sao Paulo which has as its main sport football. The club's colors are green and white. The red, present since its foundation, was deleted during World War II, under pressure from the national government, at the same meeting that formalized the change of name for Palmeiras Palestra Italia. Palmeiras' most important titles in football are the "Copa Libertadores da América" in 1999 and the "Copa Rio" in 1951, at the time considered as the first Footbal Clubs World Cup in history.
