Tom Hill
Tom Hill - born 1977 in Kent, England - is a musician / producer. Self proclaimed as a 'Musical Sculptor' Tom has worked under various titles. First appearing on the music scene as one half of the electronica duo, Wauvenfold (Wichita Records) - with Noel Murphy - their work achieved wide acclaim and drew interest from the likes of The Super Furry Animals, Bjork and John Peel - for whom they recorded and aired session work on Radio One.
Whilst working as Wauvenfold, Tom also released some old recordings he’d made using a four track tape recorder, a drum machine and a Casio keyboard - this time as Penfold Plum (Wichita). A much more tongue-in-cheek approach, Plum became an enjoyable pseudonym through which to have a laugh with in the often all-too-serious world of electronica.
Now working under the moniker, Origamibiro, (origami-biro being a take on the name Penfold) Tom has shifted away from purely electronic music and incorporated his love of classical guitar to produce an album of interlacing guitar-part harmonies and textural samples, including all the knocks, scrapes and bumps - the by-products that come with playing an instrument - which he manages to perform live without the aid of a computer. His debut as Origami Biro with Expanding Records - 'Cracked Mirrors & Stopped Clocks' was released in 2006.
