Taiguara

Taiguara

Taiguara Chalar da Silva (1945-1996) was a popular Brazilian (he was actually born in Uruguay) composer and singer. He quit law school to work with music and managed a successful career in the 60's and 70's, creating some MPB classics such as "Teu sonho não acabou" and "Geração 70". Taiguara was one of the most censored composers in the history of Brazilian music (he had around 100 songs prohibited by the military dictatorship). These censorship problems lead him to self-exile in England in 1973, where he recorded "Let the Children Hear the Music". This album was also prohibited in Brazil.
