DJ Cary makes compilation albums of mostly downtempo/ambient/world fusion music for Magnatune. She has a bio on her Magnatune artist page. She also hosts a regular music podcast series called "Expand Your Musical Horizons," which promotes indie artists--some from netlabels and some from indie labels -- featuring downtempo, trip-hop, dub, psybient, and other chilled beats.
