The T.S.U. Toronados

The T.S.U. Toronados, alternately known as the TSU Tornadoes or the TSU Toronadoes, was a soul/funk/rnb combo. Guitarist and vocalist Cal Thomas formed the band at Texas Southern University, which gave the group its name. It achieved some commercial success in the early 70s and late 60s, working for the seminal stax/Volt label. Some of their best known tunes include "Tighten Up," a number one hit in 1968, "A Thousand Wonders," "Getting the Corners," "What Good Am I", "The Goose", "My Thing Is a Moving Thing," and "Play the Music Toronados".
