FKA Co$$, Troy Johnson was born on the South Westside of Los Angeles in a small community east of Crenshaw called Leimert Park. Leimert Park is widely known as one of the United States' top spots for jazz and also home to many of LA's finest hip-hop artists. Inspired by his surroundings, Troy started rapping at the age of 14. Less than a year after Troy began emceeing, his father died. Experiencing the loss of his father at such a young age became the most pivotal event in his life.
