Jay was born in Brownwood, Texas, U S A and is based in Queensland, Australia He is a member of APRA/AMCOS and TSA (Australia). Jay wrote "Lord Cleanse My Soul" in 2004 and it has won numerous accolades. He wrote "Old age Blues" in 2007 and was a finalist in the TSA "National Country Song-writing Contest" with "The Stranger And The Brumby Gunn" in 2007. In November 2008, he journeyed to Nashville, Tennessee and recorded "Old Age Blues", "Lord Cleanse My Soul" and "Beer Drinkin' Christians".
