The Sheer is a rock band formed in Haarlem, the Netherlands in the summer of 2000. The initial lineup consisted of Bart van Liemt (leadvocals and guitar), Jasper Geluk (analog keyboards and backing vocals), Jorn van der Putte (bass and backing vocals) and Gert-Jan Zegel (drums). Janpeter Hoekstra (guitar, pedalsteel guitar and backing vocals) joined the band last year during the making of third album Here And Now And Long Before. Their early work is known to have upbeat 60's and 90's britpop influences, recent songwriting has grown far more melancholic and alt-country.
