Calamity From The Skies is a band from Lockport, New York (Buffalo/Niagara Falls area) formed in September of 2008. They play a style of metal influenced heavily by bands such as Whitechapel, The Acacia Strain, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Carnifex, Despised Icon, KoRn, Slipknot and other similiar bands. They released their first track, "Titan Crusher" on their myspace in late September, 2008, to an overwhelmingly positive response. Some following local gigs showed even greater promise and the band continued to write new material and play local shows throughout Winter 2008/2009.
The band continued to play out all over western New York throughout 2009 with the likes of Salt The Wound, Oceano, Suffokate, Recon, KillWhitneyDead and local straight edge legends, Rhinoceros. In the summer of 2009 they started work on their debut full-length album. Kahlil Sarikey, who has trained under Christopher Arp of PsyOpus, joined Calamity on 3rd guitar in late 2009. In early 2010 they parted ways with guitarist Cody Schurr. Their album was finally finished and released at a very successful CD release show at Mohawk Place in their native Buffalo, New York on May 26th. Issues centered both inside and outside the band eventually caused Calamity to go on an indefinite hiatus in late 2010.
