There were 4 Matys Brothers , Walt, John, Emil and Gene.Emil died earlier this May, Gene died in 1993. They grew up in Chester, Pa. They were very popular in the Philly area and made recordings there. In the 1950's , they backed up the group Bill Haley's and His Comets. Bill & the Comets backed the Matys Bros. with their song Muskrat Ramble. Their biggest hit was Who Stole The Keeshka? They made several albums, 45's and 8 track tapes. In that area they were known as the POLKA PRINCES. They came out west and played at the Holiday Hotel in Reno and the Commercial Hotel in Elko, Nevada.
