Born in Casablanca, Morocco, Yassir Chadly has made the USA his home since 1977 and has been performing and recording Moroccan music here since that time. His Ajeeb! album was released under the name Sidi Yassir, a name which he claims was created by the record label (source: myspace blog). He is currently a member of the Adjunct Faculty of The Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California where he teaches courses on Sufi and Islam.
