“Argentos” was born in New York in 1998, with Richard Nant in trumpet and percussion, Guillermo Klein in piano, Matt Pavolka in bass and Oscar Feldman in sax.
Occasionally, Diego Urcola (trumpets), Jeff Ballard (drums) and Iuzuke Yamamoto (percussion) would join the group.
Taking roots from Argentinean rhythms like zamba and chacarera as a mirror and using the piano and percussion (bombo leguero) as their vertebral column, they recorded their first CD, “Los Argentos” in 1999 with total liberty, and without prejudice through some Argentinean folklore standard and original compositions.
