
Ahmed Abdul-Malik
Ahmed Abdul-Malik (1927-1993) was a U.S. jazz bassist and oud player of Sudanese descent.
Born on the 30th January 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, he became noted for integrating Middle Eastern and North African musical styles into his jazz. He served as bassist for Art Blakey, Randy Weston, and Thelonious Monk among others. As an oud player he did a tour of South America for the United States Department of State and performed at an African jazz festival in Morocco.
