Howard Iceberg & the Titanics

Howard Iceberg & the Titanics

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Howard Iceberg has been writing songs for more than twenty years. He started out on a harmonica, and then took up the dulcimer, a three-stringed Appalachian folk instrument. After falling in with a punk rock band half his age or twice his size, he started souping up dulcimers with electricity and other gizmos. He began playing an instrument of his own invention, half dulcimer and half 12-string guitar.

Howard Iceberg and the Titanics have been releasing records and playing in and around Kansas City since the early 1990s. The Titanics are an ever-evolving cast of local music veterans, ranging decades in age difference. Current and former members include Gary Paredes, Ed Basnett, Blair Chenoweth, Michael DoLembo, Doug Osburn, Pat Tomek, Mike Ireland, Chad Rex, and dozens of other area musicians.

The music features very strong songwriting with humor and insight, and has received high critical acclaim. You can hear country, rock, folk and blues in Howard Iceberg's songs. Influences include Buddy Holly, Bob Dylan, the Carter family, John Prine, Velvet Crush, Wreckless Eric, The Magnetic Fields, etc. Read more on Last.fm.
