Aaron Kula's Klezmer Company Orchestra (KCO) has received critical acclaim for its fusion of ethnic jazz orchestrations and exotic melodies that defy classification. In 2009 KCO was awarded “Best Klezmer Album” for their CD “Beyond the Tribes” and “Best Klezmer Song” for “2nd Avenue Hoedown” from Just Plain Folks, the world’s largest grassroots music organization. KCO was founded by Kula in 1997 as the professional ensemble-in-residence at Florida Atlantic University Libraries in Boca Raton, the only one of its kind at an academic library in the United States.
