Sveriges radio
Sveriges Radio (aka SR) is the Swedish national broadcasting company.
The Swedish public-broadcasting system is a public service institution in many respects modelled after its British counterpart, the BBC and Sveriges Radio shares many characteristics with it.
It was founded 1925 as AB Radiotjänst as the state appropriated monopoly for broadcasting in Sweden. In 1955 The second channel P2 was started and the name was changed to Sveriges Radio. In 1962 the third channel Melodiradion was initiated which focused on light music and entertainment to counter off shore "pirate" radio broadcasters.
