Charles J

CJ Desmond, aka Charles J & CJ the DJ, has been a prominent member of the Midwest underground music scene since 1999. Growing up in a somewhat small community, music inspired events were few and far between. CJ’s original interest was in punk music, a small community in which he was a much sought after bass player. Charles made his way to his first electronic music event at the age of 16, a time in which the local scene was slowly finding itself. The jam-packed rooms full of people moving and grooving together were unlike anything else that the area had to offer and CJ was forever hooked by that pounding four-on-the-floor beat.

Charles teamed up with Transyndicate founder Brian Andrews after receiving an invitation to participate in the famed spring/summer after party gatherings known as “Sunday School.” He began an influential member of the blossoming electronic music scene. While still in high school he was involved in his first electronic event in which he organized, promoted and performed his first big party. His reputation grew and his aptly dubbed “Aggressive Trance” and corresponding mixing style landed him top spots at many memorable events throughout the Midwest. CJ’s interests turned towards music production while attending college in Chicago. He utilized the schools studio resources and quickly became comfortable with various synths and other music production tools. Charles was eager to do much more with his music than what the school facilities were able to foster, so he piece by piece started building his own personal studio that grew with his dedication to dance music.

After graduating he returned to his hometown where he continues to work on his productions, as a solo artist and creating a dynamic production team with local musician Matt K. Brian and CJ continue their audio conquest of the Midwest as DJ/Production team Dynamix Duo, receiving top billing in clubs throughout the region. Charles has released some of his first productions on Fiberlineaudio.com 1-900, Exploring the Rhythm Instruments and Right from the Streets. With a unique musical and personal style, expect to see a lot more from Charles J in the not so distant future...
