Hit the Jackpot are a lazy-backwater-plonk-rock guitar-pop band from Adelaide, South Australia. Formed In 2003 by Jessica Thomas and Kynan Lawlor, HTJ has subsequently morphed, through necessity and good fortune, into a vaguely-accomplished, shifting five-piece with the inclusion of Seb Calabretto (in 2005), Scott O’Hara (in 2008) and Steph Crase (in 2010). Live instrumental swapsies suggest a m...ulti-talented line-up, but in reality alleviate cramping/boredom and create greater musical diversity, which is the important thing. HTJ embrace a participatory, ‘DIY’ aesthetic, though owing more to Peter Cundall and lack of income than DC hardcore. Recordings to date include ‘The Red EP’ (2004), ‘Clowns’ (2005), ‘Soul Money Gang Vibe’ (2008) and ‘Holiday’ (2011), the latter two released through Melbourne’s Chapter Music.
