The Dirty Surgeon Insurgency is an American ska punk band based in Chicago, IL. They are known for incorporating many influences such as Balkan brass, black metal and free jazz into their sound, among others. The band lyrics are almost purely political, focusing on subjects not limited to gentrification, human wastefulness, and immigration. On their first album they covered the Woodie Guthrie song, "Union Maid."
