2. Self Help - apopalyptics

The Apopalyptics debut album, Inside / Outside is now out.

Recorded in London, Brussels and Belfast, the album charts a course through the issues encountered on the way to the end of the world. Outside: crashes through 9/11, the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan, and explosions of poverty and wealth – and breaks through to worldwide protests, shifts of power, and struggles to change this. Inside: passes through the personal end of the world – death, heartbreak and doubt – to reflections on where we fit in and who we are.

Money on an Island and 1% joke seriously about the current redistribution of billions from the poor to a wealthy elite, while ‘Gravity’ enters into the darkness of humanity’s battle to control nature. ‘Self-help’ makes fun of our obsession with trying to improve and ‘Insecurity’ says plainly what most other songs have been about for so long. The album tackles the most difficult personal and political issues available – using simple songs.
