Chisai Jackson has been playing increasingly in and around the Toronto independent music scene for the past 4 years, developing unique genre-breaking talent as a singer-songwriter of moody, atmospheric and intelligent music.

His last independent release Moodswing Whiskey, has sold over 1500 copies, and continues to attract attention. In the past few months he has been interviewed by Jasmine magazine, CBC Radio 3, and CIUT 89.5. He has recently finished a full-length studio album with one of Canada 's finest producers in Tim Thorney, entitled A Few Bucks Short Of Taking Over . He is an evolving artist with a strong conviction for mature, raw, honest and emotional storytelling.

"With music (as with anything), there has to be that juxtaposition of what is `good' and what is `bad'. In the end however, this categorization is all subjective to the opinion of the listener. Looking beyond the mainstream, past pop culture and commercial radio to find good music is worth it; even if it means endlessly surfing the internet or perhaps taking a chance and going to check out a local unsigned artist."

Always in a perpetual metamorphosis, Chisai Jackson evolves with intention. When he recently re-released his 2003 success Moodswing Whiskey, he did so with hesitation and reluctance. "I don't want to re-hash my old music. I'm moving forward. I'm really excited about the new songs." He decided to re-release the fully packaged Moodswing disc as an online/in-stores version, and sell it for a limited time at shows instead.

He knows that some people might expect a certain set from show to show, but he's not about to play to the crowd too much, for fear it might rob the band of kinetic and spontaneous energy- the kind of energy fans like seeing the most. "I play my new music all the time to keep things interesting for me and the band when we're live. You know, there's probably songs that people want to hear but aren't going to; but I believe in my new songs; I hope that they'll see things growing and improving, because that's what my music is all about."
