A Lonely Singing Doll Lyrics

Fame and fortune was my aim
I knew that I could go far
But now my life cannot be the same
Since I became a singing starAlways first with every style
I seem to have it all
But underneath this happy smile
I'm just a lonely singing dollI am just like other girls
I want to find a boy to love
But I never got the chance
To find the boy I'm dreaming of
Any party I go to
People stop and they stare
Boys on the lurk never speak to me
It's just as if they didn't dareSo each night I stay at home
Looking at the wall
I always seem to be on my own
I'm just a lonely singing doll(Instrumental interlude)I am just like other girls
I want to find a boy to love

But I never got the chance
To find the boy I'm dreaming ofAny party I go to
People stop and they stare
Boys on the lurk never speak to me
It's just as if they didn't dare
So each night I stay at home
Looking at the wall
I always seem to be on my own
I'm just a lonely singing dollI always seem to be on my own
I'm just a lonely singing doll

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Twinkle (born Lynn Annette Ripley, 15 July 1947, Surbiton, Surrey, England) was a singer-songwriter. She made #4 in the U.K. at the end of 1964 with her self-penned debut "Terry," a maudlin disc about the death of a (fictional) biker boyfriend. "Leader of the Pack" it wasn't, yet the record caused a furor, with accusations of bad taste leading to its ban from the BBC (and, most likely, aiding its rapid rise to popularity).
